Hello from the Maguire family, owners of Manor Farm Equestrian Centre. Please watch this space for forthcoming news of our future plans for the centre. See our Diary page for our up and coming competitions.

LATEST NEWS
1 Sept 2010...

Summer Holidays are practically over (not that we had much of a Summer!), so welcome back to those of you lucky enough to have been somewhere warmer.

Please see our events page for our programme for the autumn to help you plan your schedule, hopefully it will include us! In response to requests the unaffiliated Dressage on 18th Sept, 13th Nov and 12th Dec will include qualifying classes for the Top Spec Mountain and Moorland Dressage Championship Final which will be at Addington next April, so please make a note on your entry for these dates if you are interested in qualifying

UK Riders have recently changed their qualifying criteria : Dressage is now simply achieving 58%, Showjumping a double clear round at the relevant height.

As many of you are probably aware, Trailblazers have now introduced 1.10m and 1.15m classes to Showjumping. We can’t honestly say we are convinced there is a demand for this at unaffiliated level, so are not planning to include them. However, we will if there is a demand, so please let us know your thoughts.

This coming weekend (4/5th Sept) will be our last outdoor Jumping for this year, jumps will be moved indoors for the Senior Affiliated competition on Sat 11th Sept, and evening jumping from then on will be “under lights”

LATEST NEWS
19 July 2010...

Following requests from a number of clients, we have now registered the centre with.UK Riders, so that as of 1st August you can also qualify for the UK Riders/Top Spec Challenge 2011 finals to be held at Arena UK on 13/8/11. jumping classes are 65,75,85 and 95cm, Dressage at Prelim, Novice and Elementary levels. Full details of qualifiers and finals can be found on www.ukchasers.com.

One problem we are experiencing is a shortage of Dressage writers, so if any of you fancy having a go, no experience is needed, you should find it an enjoyable and informative experience. As a thank you, we always provide refreshments/lunch, as well as a voucher for arena hire/class entry/schooling session. Just give us a ring, or drop an email if you are interested.

Hope to see you soon

Latest News

4 May 2010...

TRAILBLAZERS:
Second round qualifiers seem to have been much more popular this year, with some hotly contested classes yesterday, despite a very cold, wet start to the day, we wish all the succeful riders the very best of luck at the final in August. this year has also seen the start of the Spillers Combined Training championships being run in association with Tarilblazers, our first event was quite a quiet affair, but we feel this will be a popular competition once competitors have "got the hang of it", so will continue to run a qualifier each month.the next one being on Sun 23rd May.

AFFILIATED SHOWJUMPING (BS)
Weekday affiliated competitions re-start this coming Wednesday (5th), and will continue twice a month until we move back indoors. Most weekend Senior competitions now include a 1.25m Open and should this prove popular, we may even give some bigger clases a go! 6th June sees the Area 32 show returning, with a good spread of classes including some Scope qualifiers ( full schedule on website)

UNAFFILIATED SHOWJUMPING
Evening jumping re-starts this month also (Thurs 6th ), now that the days are a little longer again, running outdoors twice monthly until September. We are alternating between competitive jumping and "clear round" jumping to help those who just want a "schooling" round rather than a competition. Most jumping classes ( other than Children's days and classes below 65cm) count as 1st round Trailblazer qualifiers, although we are actively seeking a sponsor for the Summer season as it would be nice to reward regular competitors with a Champioship league. ( any suggestions warmly received!)

DRESSAGE
Unaffiliated dressage is included at least once a month plus one weekday, with Freestyle (music) classes added in from time to time. Please not we have drawn up a new Walk & Trot (3), test to run alongside our usual one (2), so make sure you are using the correct one when competing, Test 3 is a little more advanced and should help with the transition to prelim. The decision whether to run Affiliated Dressage is, we are afraid, still "on hold", pending the outcome of yet more proposed rule changes by BD, which threaten to make running these competitions even less viable than they already are!

TRAINING AND CLINICS
John Thelwall is now back from the Sunshine Tour and will be available the third Monday of each month, staring with 17th May. We don't as yet, have dates for Paul Hayler beyond 10th May, as he is still studying his diary!, as soon as we have the next batch of dates we will post them on the website, so keep an eye on the Training and Clinics page
Peter Maddison-Greenwell is holding a clinic on 18th May, and should he prove popular, could be available for more regular dates Peter is a well repected International Dressage trainer, quoted in Pathfinder Dressage as one of the World's top trainers. His own book Living and Working with the Horse of Spain is recognised in the UK, USA and Spain as the definitive book on Culture, Traditions and Training of the Spanish Horse.

SHOWING
Our first Showing Show with Equifest qualifiers proved to be a popular competition, with a second chance to qualify for the final at East of England Showground being held on 15th May. You will probably notice a provisional 3rd dat on 19th June, which is subject to confirmation.

Obviously there may be changes to our programme from time to time, so don't forget to keep an eye on the website!

New Music Championship
8 October 2008...

It has taken quite some time to organise, but we have managed to get East Anglia Rider Magazine and Equine Affairs to jointly sponsor an Unaffiliated Freestyle Dressage Championships for the East Anglia region. Full details will be announced very shortly (next issue) in the magazine of the centres holding qualifying rounds, as well as the Final at Manor Farm in May 2009.

Classes will run from Prelim to Medium, including Pairs, with both short and long arena versions, with restrictions on eligibility giving the “amateur” rider an opportunity to compete on equal terms at a major event.

The team at Freestyle Dressage have also agreed to give the class winners a free workshop session to follow up the championships, with the successful riders’ progress reported in the magazine. All in all an exciting event we are proud to have instigated, and which we hope will prove to be a success.

At long last the new outdoor arena is finished!

9 July 2008...

Although off to a slightly shaky start with BSJA this week, the contractors have come back to mix the fibres a little deeper and further compact the surface, and the weather has been very helpful bringing the moisture content up, so we should have a very good surface to run our Scope qualifiers on this weekend.

If you haven’t been here for a while, the collecting ring is now accessed directly from the lorry park via a new track alongside the indoor school, so here is no longer any need to come through the yard, this also means you can get to the loo without running the gauntlet of horses waiting to enter!

Your Centre needs you!!

21 March 2007...

Due to expansion of activities held at the centre, we are now in need of additional help to run these events. In particular, we need, Dressage writers, Showing helpers and Stewards and BSJA helpers and stewards. If you can spare some time, you are assured a warm welcome. Experience not always needed and we would be happy to ease you in gently, if required. Let us know by phone or email with contact details incl. a phone number. Many thanks!!
